The reputed wettest place on earth with an average of 426 inches (10,800mm) since 1912 , Mount Wai'ale'ale, which is Hawaiian for 'rippling or overflowing water', stands at 5,148 feet (1569m). Below the mountain is the Alaka'i Bog. This is sometimes a difficult place to access but well worth the effort.
