Featuring exquisite teak furnishings and golden ambient light, the Kahili Suite at Hale O Nanakai Bed and Breakfast features a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed, hand-made quilts, and tropical accents. The Kahili Suite has a private entrance and bath, and is surrounded by mature shade and fruit trees.

A 'kahili' is a Hawaiian symbol of royalty. It is a feathered standard, made from the feathers of Kauai's native forest birds, which was used on ceremonial occasions. Kahili Mountain on Kauai overlooks Kalaheo at an elevation of 1398 feet and is accessible for hiking.

Hina's Bed Chamber - $100 per night through Sept. 15

Hina, the Hawaiian Goddess of the Moon, looks in on this cozy bedroom, which is located near the front of the home. Continental breakfast, phone, cable HDTV and WiFi included in rate.

Hina's features a full sized SelectComfort Sleep Number bed. A luxurious bathroom, accentuated by Travertine stone tile, granite vanity top and glass vessel sink, is adjacent to Hina’s Bed Chamber.

Hina also appears in various forms of fish, coral, plants and winds. Associated with the power of growth and production, Hina wears the colors silver and white, and her food is the coconut.

Laka's Garden - $145 per night through Sept 15* 

Laka's Garden is  a two room,  eight hundred square foot "ohana" apartment with ocean views and a private entrance, located in Hale O Nanakai's tropical garden area. Phone, cable HDTV and WiFi included.

Laka's two large rooms consist of a bedroom suite with a Queen-sized bed and love seat, and a spacious dining and living area with a pull-out full-sized sofa bed. The unit is self-contained with a full kitchen, screened-in lanai and private entrance. Reminiscent of Hawaii's plantation heritage, Laka's Garden is artfully decorated with hula implements, bamboo and island quilts and prints.

Laka's Garden is available for a minimum stay of three nights and is wheel chair accessible.

Laka was known as the goddess of forest growth and vegetation. A guardian of nature, Laka also created the Hula.

The Maile Room - $75

Old fashioned comfort abounds in the Maile Room, a single bedroom, perfect for the seasoned, solo traveler. Accented by teak and bamboo furniture, the room has a four-poster single day bed, and is decorated with Hawaiian and American hand-made quilts and pillow slips. Continental breakfast and WiFi included in rate.

Maile is a fragrant vine, endemic to Hawaii, that grows in the cool upland forests. In olden times the maile lei was reserved for traditional use by ali'i (nobility) only. Hawaiian natives believe maile is sacred. Hula dancers commonly use maile lei to honor Laka the Goddess of Hula.
